How can Ed's Reading Room improve children's reading skills?

Ed's Reading Room encourages boys and girls to read and explore exciting, recently published books and to discuss them with their friends. They also benefit from being introduced to new authors and from the fun literacy activities which accompany each book. Parents, carers and educationalists alike recognise the importance of children learning to read during their formative years and Ed's Reading Room ensures that learning is accomplished in a fun and enjoyable way.

Ed's Reading Room encourages parents and carers to read with their child at home and play an active role in their child's literacy development. Monthly books are specially selected to fire children's imagination and increase their enjoyment, which is the best way to keep them motivated and develop vital literacy skills.

At school, Ed's Reading Room can be an integral part of reading - with individuals, the whole class or in small groups as an after-school club. For ideas and support contact Maggie Humphreys, the creator of Ed's Reading Room. Maggie is a qualified teacher with over 25 years' teaching experience as well as being a writer and leader of workshops.

"Our members of Ed's Reading Room really enjoy reading for pleasure, the new books and the activities."
